Thornhill is located in the pacific northwest region of British Columbia, Canada and is a neighbouring community to the City of Terrace, only separated by the Skeena River.
The Thornhill / City of Terrace area is approx. 145 km (90 miles) east of Prince Rupert and approx. 64 km (40 miles) north of Kitimat.
The fire protection area of the Thornhill Fire Department covers from approximately 25 km east of Thornhill area, and approximately 23 km south of Thornhill towards Kitimat, BC. This area is served by 3 fire halls, Hall 1 in Thornhill, Hall 2 at Lakelse Lake, and Hall 3 at Gitaus subdivision.
In addition, the Thornhill Fire Department
assists in providing fire protection to North Terrace, New Remo, and Braun's
Island with the City of Terrace Fire Department through a fire protection
agreement. This basis of the agreement has the City of Terrace Fire-Rescue
providing fire suppression while the Thornhill Fire Department provides water
